esPRESSivo. What else?

George who elseWhat I often miss, when I’m travelling the world Europe, is the taste of a Nespresso-like coffee wherever I have one (I mean a coffee). Every time I’m sitting in a restaurant, the decision to try or not to try their “local” coffee turns into a real dilemma. So I often end-up drinking a coke or something I know that will always more or less have the same taste should I be in in Beijing, Vienna, Paris or a small village in Himancham Pradesh.

I understand, though I find it actually silly when taking into account the size of the actual device, that Nespresso has developed a special carrying case for all of those, who like George, think that there is nothing else than a Nespresso coffee. And actually I realize that this post is turning into a full free ad for that Swiss company who hired George to promote its star coffee. So I’m now moving without transition to what could be a revolution for coffee lovers who travel the world all the time.

There is nothing like a fresh brewed coffee whenever you feel the need for one. But the trouble with brewing espresso outdoors is the dynamics of pressing coffee beans and of course the relevant equipments. The once only available alternative was to carry a thermosflasks full of our favourite coffee, everywhere. Only issue: well, thermoflasks slow down the process of heat dispersion, but don’t completely stop it. So on a long trip even the best coffee would end up cold and tasting like crap (could though do great if you manage to get some ice cubes, shake the whole thing and sip it as a frozen coffee).

Not to so many options until the brainwave of hand-pressing the beans using the esPRESSivo machine comes to life! The all-in-one-unit allows you to press the beans, light up a small flame at the base of the unit to brew your cup, and stores the surplus! Brilliant!

Now imagine how many new friends or business partners you’re going to make when you’ll pop up your esPRESSivo to brew the best coffee in the middle of an airport (but make sure to wear a nice suit when you do that or else you will struggle to explain airport security that you’re not some kind of a homeless having a break).

A great idea, though I’m not sure that flight attendants will agree to let use it in their airplane (unless you’re George). After all, maybe even George will eventually become an esPRESSo fan…

Love it! Where do I get one. A quick google search resulted in no immediate hits. Also love that tag cloud!

@ Scott: I’m happy you enjoyed this post! With regards to the esPRESSo device, it is unfortunately only a prototype. But as with every good idea, I think it won’t take too long before it turns into a reality! The best I guess is to keep up to date with the work of that designer who “invented” the esPREESo “everywhere” gizmo!
